Staff Accountant

Overview
Sprouts Farmers Market is excited to offer a 15-week Staff Accountant New Grad Program designed to develop the next generation of accounting professionals in the grocery retail industry. As a Staff Accountant, you'll gain hands-on experience across core accounting functions while learning how financial operations support one of the most dynamic sectors in retail. The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for assisting the Accounting Director with the day-to-day and month-end accounting and inventory tasks. A successful person in this role will possess strong organization and interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to work with and learn from others.

Overview Of Responsibilities
This program features an enhanced onboarding experience focused on corporate acclimation, including direct exposure to executive leadership, personalized mentor pairing, and an onboarding ambassador to guide you through your first months.

• Eligibility: You are within one year of graduation from a bachelor's degree program (Aug May 2026 graduates)
• Location: Phoenix, AZ

Enhanced Corporate Transition Onboarding

• Participate in a structured training rotation through Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory Accounting, and General Ledger functions.
• Learn grocery-specific accounting concepts such as spoilage, vendor rebates, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
• Assist with daily journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
• Support preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Perform data entry and validation in ERP/accounting systems.
• Collaborate with store, warehouse, and corporate teams to resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Assist with audit preparation, tax filings, and internal control documentation.

Qualifications

• Obtained or be in pursuit of a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. (August May 2026 graduates)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP systems a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Interest in the grocery or retail industry preferred.
