The Business Intelligence (BI) Data & Analytics Manager leads a team in transforming raw data into actionable business insights that drive strategic decision-making across an organization. This pivotal role combines technical expertise, strong leadership, and business acumen to ensure data accuracy, accessibility, and relevance to business goals.
Key Responsibilities
The core duties of a BI Data & Analytics Manager are multifaceted, blending technical oversight with strategic leadership.
- Strategy & Leadership: Develop and execute the organization's BI and analytics strategy, aligning data initiatives with overall business objectives.
- Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of BI analysts, data engineers, and developers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Data Analysis & Insight Generation: Oversee data analysis activities, including data mining, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics, to extract valuable insights and support decision-making.
- Reporting & Visualization: Design, build, and maintain enterprise-level dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using tools like Tableau or Power BI to communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
- Data Management & Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and quality assurance practices to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regulations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., Finance, Sales, Marketing, IT) to understand their data needs, gather requirements, and deliver solutions that enhance operational efficiency.
- Technology & Innovation: Select and maintain the appropriate analytics technology stack, staying current with emerging trends (like AI and machine learning) to drive innovation.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Business, Engineering); Master's degree often preferred.
- Typically 5-8+ years of experience in BI, data analytics, or related roles, with proven experience in a leadership or management position.
Technical Skills
- Expertise in SQL, data modeling, and data warehousing concepts.
- Proficiency in BI and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Looker).
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies is a plus.
- Familiarity with programming languages like Python or R for advanced analytics.
