About The Role
The Manager, Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting will manage the process and staff responsible for external financial reporting, including the quarterly and annual reports on Form 10-Q and Form 10-K, assist in the technical review and documentation of key accounting transactions, prepare quarterly and annual technical accounting white papers, and develop and deliver accounting policy training material. This position will collaborate with corporate, segment and regional finance teams to carry out their responsibilities.

What You'll Do

  • Manage the preparation and review of the annual report on Form 10-K and quarterly reports on Form 10-Q, including financial statement footnotes and MD&A sections
  • Prepare accounting white papers for accounting areas subject to estimates, judgments and complexity (e.g., revenue, compensation and goodwill impairment)
  • Review and provide input on materials produced by Investor Relations for internal and external use
  • Review the earnings per share calculation and inputs
  • Direct the preparation of budgets and forecasts for select financial statement items
  • Support Legal in the preparation of the annual Proxy Statement
  • Manage the preparation of reports required for 401K compliance, broker-dealer reporting and certain statutory entities
  • Assist corporate, segment and regional finance teams, on a consultation basis, with the appropriate accounting for revenue recognition, compensation, leases, and cloud computing contracts, among others.
  • Assist with research for new and significant transactions
  • Assist with development of training material on key topics
  • Assist with the delivery of training materials on key accounting topics to regional and segment finance personnel
  • Assist with M&A implementation and integration activities, including purchase accounting, fair value assessments, and related processes
  • Prepare journal entries for new and significant transactions and coordinate with the corporate department to ensure the entries are properly recorded in the accounting system
  • Monitor the ongoing accounting of significant transactions after initial measurement to ensure a successful transition
  • Consult with independent auditors on accounting matters and disclosure requirements as required.
  • Monitor the activities of all accounting and industry standard setting bodies, i.e., FASB, SEC, AICPA, etc.

Basic Qualifications
What You'll Will Need To Succeed

  • 6 years total finance and accounting experience, including expert knowledge of US GAAP principals and financial statement preparation
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Accounting from an accredited university in the United States
  • Active CPA license required
  • Ability to travel to FTI office(s) as needed.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Time spent with "Big 4" public accounting and/or audit
  • Self-starter, demonstrates ability to follow project plans and to coordinate with teams across the organization
  • Self-confidence, and good communication skills, including business writing and experience at developing senior management presentations
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical skills
  • Strong problem solver, capable of identifying root cause and mitigation plans with practical solution approaches
  • Team-oriented and an ability to direct and influence resources without direct reporting relationships
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Strong overall organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
