SUMMARY OF POSITION
Manage the County Attorney's Office and assists on civil issues as directed by the County Attorney and Assistant County Attorney.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to: County Attorney
- Directs: Directs Administrative Assistants and Receptionist
- Other: Frequent contact with elected county officials, other county employees, municipal and state government employees, parties to county contracts, vendors, law enforcement and the general public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
EXAMPLES OF WORK
- Manage the overall operational, budgetary, purchasing, financial, and personnel responsibilities and activities of the County Attorney's Office, making responsible decisions;
- Plan and implement systems that perform the work and fulfill the mission, goals, and directives of the County Attorney efficiently and effectively;
- Plan, evaluate and improve the efficiency of work flow, processes, and procedures to enhance office quality, efficiency, and output;
- Review performance data to monitor and measure office productivity, goal achievement, and overall effectiveness;
- Analyze, communicate, and resolve complex problems;
- Utilize technology to fulfill work requirements;
- Structure and monitor the activities of the Administrative Assistant, providing relevant feedback;
- Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among office members that allows for disagreement over ideas, conflict and resolution, and an appreciation of individual efforts;
- Promote the work of the County Attorney's Office to the general public;
- Serve as office liaison to Human Resources;
- Act as interface and point of contact for issues dealing with County contracts and/or County Attorney Office issues;
- Draft routine legal and business communication;
- Assists attorneys in preparation for depositions or trials and discusses case strategies;
- Attends continuing education as required by the County Attorney
- Perform ongoing agreement compliance reviews as assigned; and
- Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Excellent decision-making skills; strong oral and written communication abilities; strong business acumen; above average math and computer skills (Word including the using track changes and mail merge, Excel, Outlook, and Odyssey); high degree of customer support skills (including needs assessment, quality standards, and satisfaction evaluation); ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; ability to manage and resolve conflict; high degree of flexibility and adaptability to change; strong proofreading skills with meticulous attention to detail; sound judgement; and strong organizational, time management, and follow-up skills with the ability to work independently;
Acceptable Experience And Training
- Paralegal degree, certification, or relevant bachelor's degree preferred.
- High school graduation (or its equivalent) required.
- A minimum of three (3) years' experience in the legal environment, preferably civil law, with relevance to the duties of this position preferred.
- Prior office management or mid-level management experience preferred.
- Must be bondable.
- Must submit to and pass a background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screening
