The Manager of Retail Compliance will be responsible for working with the compliance team and cross-functional business partners in the development and implementation of the organization's Compliance Program. The Manager of Retail Compliance will have a basic knowledge of the cannabis industry and have direct experience working within the cannabis regulatory environment. The Manager of Retail Compliance will also have demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced organizational structure and experience with Compliance Program development and process improvement.
Location: We currently operate in Illinois and Massachusetts and have plans for future expansion. Candidates should reside within a commutable distance to all locations in Massachusetts. Currently we are operating in the following cities:
- Allston
- Framingham
- West Roxbury
Flexibility to travel to multi-state retail locations is required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for organizational compliance with applicable state, county and municipal laws, ordinances, and regulations within the organization's retail business units.
- Serves as a compliance point of contact for the organization's Retail initiatives and support for other business unit needs as appropriate.
- Performs audits and monitoring of Retail business units.
- Manages the investigations and remediation of compliance concerns, issues, or violations.
- Manages the response to regulatory agency inquiries and investigations as appropriate.
- Assists with the development and implementation of a compliance training and education program tailored to the Retail business unit.
- Assists with compliance and risk reporting related to the Retail business units.
- Prepares and submits documentation required for regulatory approvals and coordinates the inspection process regulatory agencies as needed.
- Serves as the subject matter expert on current and prospective regulations and provides compliance regulatory advice to internal business partners, including providing regular updates on emerging regulatory issues, trends, and other developments.
- Travels among the Company's multi-state Retail facilities.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
- 2+ cannabis sector experience preferred, or other highly regulated industry (pharmaceutical, banking, alcohol, etc.).
- 3 + years of compliance experience.
- Experience in cannabis seed-to-sale software programs required.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite, including work excel, outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity and work ethics and a commitment to upholding organizational values.
- Ability to travel to facilities throughout the organization's footprint, as needed.
