Our growing logistics company in Des Moines, Iowa, is seeking a reliable and organized Shipping Clerk. This role is crucial for the smooth operation of our outbound logistics, ensuring that all shipments are processed accurately and dispatched on time. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including preparing shipping documents, verifying order details, coordinating with carriers, and maintaining records. The ideal candidate will possess excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. Working within a fast-paced warehouse environment requires efficiency and a commitment to maintaining high standards of service. This position offers a great opportunity to develop your skills in logistics and supply chain management.
Responsibilities:
- Process and document all outbound shipments accurately.
- Generate shipping labels, bills of lading, and other necessary paperwork.
- Verify order accuracy against shipping documents.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers for pickup schedules and tracking.
- Maintain organized shipping records and files.
- Communicate with internal teams to resolve any shipping discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Follow all Safety protocols, including the use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Perform other duties as assigned, which may involve some Lifting.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience in a shipping or administrative role within a logistics environment.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including shipping software and MS Office.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be comfortable with tasks involving moderate Lifting.
- A dedication to workplace Safety.
