We are actively recruiting for a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to manage outbound logistics at our Indianapolis, Indiana distribution center. This role is critical for ensuring the timely and accurate dispatch of goods, directly impacting our customer satisfaction. You will be responsible for all aspects of the shipping process, from documentation to carrier coordination, ensuring smooth operations within our logistics network. If you possess strong organizational skills and a commitment to accuracy, this position offers a rewarding opportunity.
Responsibilities:
- Generate and verify all necessary shipping documents (e.g., BOLs, packing lists, customs forms).
- Coordinate with carriers for pickup and delivery schedules, negotiating rates where applicable.
- Accurately input shipment data into our Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Conduct final quality checks on outgoing shipments to ensure compliance with standards.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized shipping dock area.
- Ensure all employees in the shipping area are utilizing appropriate PPE.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any shipping errors or delays promptly.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the logistics department.
- Perform inventory checks and reconcile shipping records.
- Operate standard office equipment and shipping tools.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a shipping or logistics role is required.
- Proficiency with shipping software and Microsoft Office.
- Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.
- A strong focus on accuracy and an ability to detect errors.
- Excellent communication skills for liaising with carriers and internal teams.
- Understanding of shipping regulations and best practices.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and the correct use of PPE.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs on occasion.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced logistics setting.
