We are seeking a reliable and thorough Receiving Clerk for our growing warehouse operation in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This role is fundamental to our logistics chain, involving the accurate acceptance, inspection, and processing of all incoming inventory. You will be the first point of contact for many deliveries, ensuring that our stock is managed correctly from the moment it arrives. A dedication to accuracy, efficiency, and rigorous safety standards, including the correct use of PPE, is essential. Responsibilities:
- Accept, unload, and inspect all incoming shipments, verifying against purchase orders and packing lists.
- Identify and document any damages, shortages, or discrepancies found in received goods.
- Accurately enter receiving data into the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Organize and stage incoming inventory for efficient put-away by other teams.
- Safely operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified).
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work environment within the receiving area.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, ensuring proper use of PPE.
- Collaborate with vendors, carriers, and internal departments to resolve receiving-related issues.
- Assist with inventory cycle counts and other inventory control activities as needed.
- Must be able to consistently perform lifting up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a warehouse receiving position is highly desirable.
- Basic computer skills and experience with WMS or inventory software is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and lift for extended periods.
- Knowledge of safety best practices and the mandatory use of PPE in a warehouse setting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with others.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving.
