Our Detroit, Michigan facility is seeking a skilled Warehouse Technician to maintain and repair warehouse equipment and infrastructure. This role is crucial for ensuring the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of our logistics center. The Warehouse Technician will be responsible for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of machinery, racking, and other essential warehouse components. If you possess strong mechanical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and experience in a warehouse or industrial maintenance setting, this position is an ideal fit.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventative maintenance on warehouse equipment, including forklifts, conveyors, automated systems, and dock levelers.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with warehouse machinery.
- Inspect and maintain the structural integrity of warehouse racking, shelving, and loading docks.
- Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions and perform emergency repairs to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all equipment is operated safely and in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company policies.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, including proper lockout/tagout procedures and the mandatory use of PPE.
- Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment or warehouse modifications.
- Manage inventory of spare parts and supplies for maintenance operations.
- Must be able to perform tasks involving lifting and maneuvering of equipment parts, up to 50 lbs.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in a related field (e.g., mechanics, electrical) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience as a maintenance technician, mechanic, or similar role in an industrial or warehouse environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing various types of equipment.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and logistics is beneficial.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to PPE requirements.
- Physical ability to work in a warehouse setting, including climbing, bending, and lifting.
