The Inland Empire Autism Assessment Center of Excellence (AACE) is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist to join our multidisciplinary/transdisciplinary team. This role offers the opportunity to make a unique and meaningful impact in the lives of children and families across the Inland Empire.
The AACE is a non-profit, evaluation/diagnostic-only center, with clinic sites located in Riverside and San Bernardino. The AACE centers were developed to provide specialized and comprehensive assessment for children referred due to developmental, behavioral, sensory, or other concerns. The referral question is often related to differential diagnoses for children with characteristics of ASD symptomatology. A unique feature of AACE's clinical model is a fully integrated team of clinical professionals from the fields of neurology, pediatrics, genetics, neuropsychology, occupational therapy, and speech & language pathology that comprise a transdisciplinary team. A transdisciplinary provider team is assigned to each child referred to the center, and tailors the evaluation components to address the functional concerns of the child. The successful candidate filling this position will be a member of the AACE transdisciplinary provider team.

*Primary Job Duties*
This position will require that the candidate be able to administer a variety of assessment measures to evaluate language and communication skills and identify any communication disorders present. The candidate will provide comprehensive speech and language assessments, with a particular focus on Neurodevelopmenal Disabilities, and can involve observation, play activity, record review, caregiver/patient interviews, standardized and non-standardized test procedures.
*Key Responsibilities:*
* Assess language development and communication skills in children who may be nonverbal or minimally verbal
* Work collaboratively with a transdisciplinary team to assist in the diagnosis of referred patients
* Develop comprehensive, integrated reports with referrals and recommendations to ameliorate communication/wellbeing concerns of patients in a timely manner
* Write timely and integrated assessment reports
* Interpret current and previous evaluations and test results to integrate into patient's current diagnoses and functional needs
* Foster teamwork at AACE while maintaining ability to work independently as part of a transdisciplinary team
* Maintain the highly confidential nature of patient and healthcare information
*Professional Skills and Competencies Required*
*Clinical Assessment & Diagnostic Skills:*
* Demonstrated expertise in administering and interpreting standardized and non-standardized speech-language assessment tools for pediatric populations
* Experience evaluating common speech, language, and communication disorders including but not limited to:
* Articulation and phonological disorders
* Expressive and receptive language delays/disorders
* Pragmatic/social communication deficits
* Childhood apraxia of speech
* Fluency disorders
* Voice disorders
* Feeding and swallowing difficulties (as they relate to oral-motor function)
* Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) needs assessment
* Proficiency in assessing communication profiles specific to ASD, including joint attention, symbolic play, echolalia, and communication intent in minimally verbal or nonverbal children
* Proven experience with a range of speech, language, and hearing disorders associated with commonly referred medical conditions
*Written Communication & Documentation:*
* Excellent written communication skills with ability to articulate complex clinical findings clearly and concisely
* Proficiency in writing comprehensive, integrated diagnostic reports that synthesize findings from multiple disciplines
* Ability to translate technical assessment results into actionable, family-centered recommendations
* Skill in documenting observations, test results, and diagnostic impressions in a timely and organized manner
* Experience writing reports that meet medical, educational, and insurance documentation standards
*Collaboration & Interpersonal Skills:*
* Strong verbal communication skills for presenting findings to transdisciplinary team members
* Ability to collaborate effectively within a team-based diagnostic model, integrating perspectives from medicine, (e.g. neurology), neuropsychology, and occupational therapy
* Skilled in conducting sensitive, culturally responsive caregiver interviews
* Ability to explain assessment results and recommendations to families in an understandable, compassionate manner
* Team-oriented approach with good interpersonal skills
* Ability to communicate and listen effectively
*Professional Judgment & Clinical Reasoning:*
* Strong analytical skills to interpret assessment data within developmental and diagnostic contexts
* Ability to synthesize information from record reviews, caregiver reports, and direct assessment
* Clinical judgment in selecting appropriate assessment tools based on individual child presentations/needs
* Capacity to differentiate communication differences from disorders, particularly in bilingual or culturally diverse populations
* Creative use of play and other activities as part of assessment
* Proficiency in pediatric speech and language assessment tools and techniques
*Minimum Qualifications*
* Master's degree in Speech Pathology, Speech-Language Pathology, or related field that meets eligibility criteria for licensure by the California Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology & Hearing Aid Dispensers Board
* Valid California State License from the California Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology & Hearing Aid Dispensers Board
* Valid CPR Certification
*Desired Qualifications*
* Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association [CCC-SLP]
* Strong expertise in the assessment and diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental/neurodevelopmental disorders
* Deep understanding of the educational and developmental needs of young children
* Experience providing Speech-Language comprehensive assessments in a pediatric clinical setting
* Previous multi-disciplinary/transdisciplinary clinical team experience
* Experience working with children with ASD
* Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
