Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machine Tool Applications Engineer with deep expertise in 5-axis simultaneous machining and B-axis mill/turn machines. The ideal candidate will provide technical support, process optimization, and programming solutions to maximize productivity and precision for advanced machining operations. This position will require some travel to customer sites and company facilities, with travel expenses paid.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement machining strategies for complex 5-axis simultaneous operations and multi-tasking B-axis mill/turn machines.
- Create, optimize, and troubleshoot CNC programs using industry-standard CAM software (e.g., Esprit, Mastercam, HyperMill).
- Collaborate with customers and internal teams to deliver turnkey solutions, including tooling selection, fixturing, and cycle time reduction.
- Conduct machine demonstrations, training sessions, and technical presentations for clients.
- Analyze part geometry and recommend best practices for machining efficiency and quality.
- Support installation, commissioning, and post-sales applications assistance.
- Stay current with emerging technologies in advanced CNC machining and automation.
- Travel as needed to customer sites for support, training, and project implementation (expenses covered).
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in CNC applications engineering or advanced machining.
- Proven expertise in 5-axis simultaneous machining and B-axis mill/turn operations.
- Strong proficiency in CAM programming and G-code optimization.
- Solid understanding of cutting tool technology, workholding, and material properties.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer-facing skills.
- Experience with Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, or similar CNC controls preferred.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of high-speed machining strategies and collision avoidance.
- Familiarity with automation solutions (robotics, pallet systems).
- Experience in aerospace, medical, or precision engineering industries.
