CYFOR has a rewarding position for an Engineer (Level 1) supporting the NASA Safety and Mission Assurance Engineering Contract (SMAEC II) at the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas helping to safely continue the many existing, as well as new and upcoming, spaceflight programs. Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will perform engineering assessments and analyses on the International Space Station, Commercial Vehicles (manned and unmanned) payloads and experiments that are flown on International (e.g. Progress or Soyuz) or commercial vehicles (SpaceX, CST-100). These tasks will include the following:

· Identify and quantify risk;

· Assure compliance with NASA safety requirements;

· Provide detailed reports and recommendations for mitigation strategies;

· Prepare and present technical presentations;

· Participate in Safety Panel Reviews;

· Review flight documents, operational scenarios, and subsequent changes for safety impact;

· Participate in associated meetings;

· Provide real-time and post-flight engineering support for flight anomaly investigations; and,

· Work with customers - NASA, Space Station contractors, and International Partners.

Required Education:

· BS degree in Engineering or related Science/Technical field (Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred)

· Complete any assigned technical training or certification program to support the customer's Safety Panel Review requirements.

Required Experience/Skills:

· 1 to 5 years related experience.

· Self-starter, self-motivated.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Must possess good interpersonal skills. Ability to develop excellent working relationships with customers, peers, and management.

· Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite of Tools to prepare reports, presentations, and charts.

· Knowledge and use of personal computer with typical business software

· Should be willing to travel (< 5%, domestic).

Preferred Skills:

· Familiarity with the NASA organization and with the International Space Station (ISS) subsystems and components

· NASA system flight safety review process experience

· Experience with direct participation in conducting and documenting space system safety review.

· An understanding of NASA Handbook 51700 and 50021

· An understanding of system safety hazards analysis process

Required: Candidate must be a US Citizen and able to pass a public trust security clearance.

Salary: Salary at CYFOR Technologies is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected annual compensation range for this position is $55,000 to $65,000 annually. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of CYFOR's total compensation package for employees.
