What we are looking for in a Network Specialist

You should be:

  • A focused and disciplined learner who understands subnets, routing, basic Layer2 networks, VLANs, Layer3 switches and routing, and who can program related gear
  • A team player, with the ability to effectively communicate with teammates, homeowners and business clients, to meet their needs and expectations
  • Able to think through problems and visualize solutions, and quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources
  • Able to plan, design, implement, and document network architecture and stability measures for a rapidly growing ISP network
  • Willing to learn, grow and engage in creative problem solving, and excited about reliable broadband infrastructure and providing great internet service to customers

You should have:

  • Experience and competency with implementing, provisioning, administering, and troubleshooting network infrastructure devices; including wireless access points, modems, routers, firewalls, switches, wireless radios and controllers
  • A strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
  • The ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and for planning network communication systems
  • A current understanding of or the ability to learn BGP, OSPF, VPLS/MPLS and advanced routing protocols, as well as the interaction between them
  • The ability to lead and provide guidance to the networking/operations team
  • A valid driver's license, with a good or clean driving record
  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or related field of study, or significant military experience in IT, telecommunications, or a combination of advanced certifications (like CCNP) and substantial experience
