Position: Patient Navigator – Hereditary Cancer Testing
Location: Garner, NC
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

About the Role
As a Patient Navigator specializing in Hereditary Cancer Testing, you will support patients through critical stages of their diagnostic journey. You will be based in Garner, NC, providing education, coordinating care, and assisting with phlebotomy. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary clinical team to ensure a seamless, supportive, and professional patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
Provide education and support for high-risk patients undergoing genetic testing.
Register patients and schedule follow-up appointments.
Build trust and confidence with patients by explaining procedures clearly and compassionately.
Perform blood draws and specimen collection with accuracy and professionalism (~5–10% of role, with potential to expand).
Accurately verify and label patient specimens at the time of collection.
Maintain documentation, patient records, and uphold HIPAA compliance.
Ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming clinical environment.
Collaborate with the clinical team and area supervisor to complete daily tasks efficiently.
Serve as a key patient contact, embodying HALO's commitment to precision care and early detection.
Qualifications
Required:
2+ years recent experience as a Medical Assistant working with a clinical team.
Experience with insurance verifications and authorizations (minimum 2 years).
National Certified Phlebotomist with strong experience in blood collection.
Current BLS certification.
Strong phlebotomy skills, including venipuncture for genetic testing.
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple sites.
Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
Preferred:
Registered/Certified Medical Assistant.
2+ years of experience in a Patient Service Center or similar outpatient environment.
Prior experience in a customer-facing role within a healthcare setting.
Proficiency with data entry and patient systems (EMR/EHR).
