Grill Cook

Owens Deli is a family-owned and operated soul food and catering business. We are seeking a sharp, fast and detail-oriented Grill Cook, you will be responsible for grilling and cooking food to order, ensuring that each dish is prepared to the customer's specifications. You will also be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the grill station, monitoring food temperatures, and ensuring that food is cooked safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on, high-energy role in a fast-paced environment .

30-40 hours per week

Salary:$10 per hour.

Duties

• Prepare and cook menu items such as shrimp po'boys, burgers, sandwiches, omelets, and daily specials according to recipes and customer requests.
• Operate and maintain grill, fryers, flat tops, and other kitchen equipment safely.
• Season, marinate, and portion ingredients to ensure consistent flavor and presentation.
• Monitor cooking times and food temperatures to maintain quality and food safety standards.
• Set up and stock grill station with necessary supplies before each shift.
• Ensure plates are garnished and presented neatly before serving.
• Follow portion control guidelines to minimize waste and control food costs.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized workstation throughout the shift.
• Assist with prep work (chopping, slicing, battering, breading, etc.) as needed.
• Communicate with servers and other kitchen staff to coordinate orders and ensure timely service.
• Adhere to health, safety, and sanitation guidelines including proper food handling and storage.
• Perform end-of-shift cleaning, restocking, and breakdown of cooking station.

Skills

• Experience in catering or restaurant environments is required
• Lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds
• Ability to work well and effectively in a busy kitchen setting
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
• Basic understanding of math
• Respectful, Friendly and Courteous with great customer service skills
