The Assistant Operations Manager supports the Operations Manager in the overall leadership and supervision of 9 retail stores. This role ensures operational excellence, consistent merchandizing execution, strong team performance, and alignment with company goals. The Assistant Operations manager plays a hands-on role in supporting store managers, driving sales and service standards, assisting with new product roll outs, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Partner with the Operations Manager to oversee daily store operations across all retail locations.
- Monitor compliance with company policies, operational procedures, and brand standards.
- Support store managers in optimizing staffing, scheduling, and labor efficiency.
- Assist with store visits and operational audits to ensure consistency and performance.
Talent Management & Development
- Support the Operations Manager in conducting performance reviews and talent evaluations.
- Provide constructive feedback and coaching to store managers to strengthen leadership capability and drive results.
- Help identify high-potential team members and contribute to succession planning.
Merchandising & Product Execution
- Assist in planning and executing new product launches, resets, and floor set changes across all stores.
- Collaborate with the merchandising team and vendor sales representatives to ensure proper product placement, presentation, and inventory levels.
- Maintain strong relationships with sales representatives and ensure effective communication regarding promotions, displays, and inventory needs.
Business Performance & Reporting
- Identify opportunities for improvement and provide recommendations to the Operations Manager.
- Implementing operational action plans for underperforming locations.
Scheduling & Coordination
- Review and verify store schedules to ensure adequate coverage and adherence to budgeted hours.
- Support scheduling alignment with events, product resets, peak business periods, and store manager coverage.
- Assist in coordinating cross-store support during staff shortages or special projects.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of retail operations or multi-unit management experience required.
- Proven leadership ability with experience in coaching and developing managers.
- Strong understanding of retail merchandising, visual presentation, and inventory management.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel regularly among assigned store locations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
