Milan Catering & Event Design is seeking a Sous Chef to join our culinary team as we continue to deliver refined, memorable dining experiences at some of the region's most iconic venues.

As a boutique, high-end catering company, we pride ourselves on stunning presentation, scratch-made cuisine, and flawless execution. Our Sous Chef will play a key role in production, on-site execution, and supporting the Executive Chef in leading Milan's culinary excellence.

What You'll Do

· Culinary Production + Event Execution

· Assist Executive Chef with event prep, production schedules, and quality control

· Execute on-site cooking for plated dinners, buffets, and chef-interactive stations

· Plate meals with precision following Chef's standards for presentation

· Maintain consistency, food integrity, and timing during busy service window

· Practice safe food handling, proper heating/holding, and HACCP guidelines

· Support set-up and breakdown of on-site kitchen equipment

· Be prepared to work both indoor and outdoor events in varying weather conditions

· Leadership + Teamwork

· Lead BOH event staff when assigned (including line cooks)

· Uphold Milan's standards for professionalism, cleanliness, and guest-centric service

· Model a positive, solution-focused attitude always

· Communicate effectively with chefs, event managers, and front-of-house teams

· Support inventory, ordering, and kitchen organization as needed

What We're Looking For

· Demonstrated knife skills

· Working knowledge of batch cooking, large-format prep, proper holding temps, and upscale plating

· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs (equipment, hot boxes, coolers, etc.)

· Ability to load/unload vans at start and end of shift

· Reliable transportation

· Fluency in English with strong verbal communication

· Approved food handling certification

· Team-oriented mindset and strong work ethic

Experience

· Minimum 6–12 months line cook, catering, or hotel/banquet experience

· Prior event-style cooking preferred but not required if skills are strong
