Job Summary

We're looking for an experienced
Senior DevOps Engineer
to design, build, and maintain the infrastructure that powers XSELL's AI-driven platform. You'll own the reliability, scalability, and automation of our cloud environments, helping our teams deploy code quickly and confidently. This role bridges development and operations—ensuring stability, performance, and efficiency across our production systems.

This position is hybrid, requiring in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday each week at our Chicago HQ. It's a hands-on role for someone who thrives on solving complex challenges, building resilient systems, and enabling others through thoughtful automation.

You'll architect cloud-native systems that support real-time AI experiences in healthcare, partner closely with engineering to streamline deployments, and mature our DevOps and GitOps practices. You'll have ownership over infrastructure decisions, monitoring frameworks, and automation pipelines that directly impact the success of our platform and our customers.

Key Responsibilities

Platform & Automation

  • Design, deploy, and manage highly available
    AWS EKS
    clusters optimized for cost, security, and scalability.
  • Build and maintain
    Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
    using
    Terraform
    to automate AWS environments and configurations.
  • Enhance
    CI/CD pipelines
    (GitHub Workflows, Jenkins, ArgoCD) to support fast and reliable delivery.
  • Champion
    GitOps
    principles to improve consistency and traceability of infrastructure and application changes.

Reliability & Observability

  • Implement robust monitoring and alerting using
    Grafana
    ,
    Prometheus
    , and
    Datadog
    (or similar).
  • Define and track
    SLOs/SLIs
    to measure reliability and reduce operational toil through automation.
  • Lead incident response and root cause analysis for platform-related issues, driving continuous improvement.
  • Apply
    security best practices
    across Kubernetes workloads, networks, and secrets management.

Collaboration & Enablement

  • Partner with development teams to simplify deployments and increase platform reliability.
  • Build internal tools and documentation that promote self-service and operational efficiency.
  • Conduct code reviews for infrastructure and configuration changes.
  • Mentor engineers and foster strong cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in
    SRE, Platform, or DevOps
    roles.
  • Proven success managing
    AWS
    infrastructure and production
    EKS
    clusters.

Technical Expertise

  • Advanced proficiency with
    Terraform
    , plus scripting in
    Python
    or
    Go
    .
  • Experience with
    GitHub Workflows
    ,
    ArgoCD
    ,
    Jenkins
    , and observability tools.
  • Solid understanding of
    Kubernetes networking
    ,
    AWS VPCs
    , and
    service mesh
    concepts.
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and cloud compliance best practices.

  • Strong ownership mentality and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Collaborative mindset—comfortable working across multiple teams and domains.

How we work

Hybrid: 3 days/week in our West Loop office (Tue–Thu onsite for this role).

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary:$150K–$180K base + bonus
