About The Role
The Senior Data Engineer, Business Intelligence, will play a pivotal role in leading the development of business intelligence solutions across multiple products and teams. This position involves designing, architecting, developing, testing, and deploying complex analytics and BI solutions that support operational and financial objectives within the CPS division. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with consulting teams and IT leadership to understand client needs, define problem statements, and deliver tailored software solutions. Responsibilities include documenting solutions, preparing system specifications, and implementing enhancements to improve operational efficiency. The role offers flexibility to work remotely within the U.S., with specific in-office requirements for candidates in Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. This position provides an excellent opportunity to work on challenging projects while contributing to the advancement of health analytics and data-driven decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field OR 5+ years of relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business intelligence and release planning
- At least 3 years of leading design and development efforts across multiple data intelligence products and cross-functional teams
- 3+ years of experience working with Power BI analytics, data visualization, and integration
- 1+ year of experience in writing and performance tuning queries in DAX and SQL
- Knowledge of DAX, Power Query (M), and Power BI service environment
- Experience with Power BI Embedded and Azure Analysis Services
- Familiarity with the latest features in Microsoft Fabric, including alerting, goal setting, and CoPilot
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with consulting teams and IT leadership to develop software solutions that meet client needs, including problem definition, process requirements, and solution development
- Document and demonstrate solutions through flowcharts, diagrams, code comments, and clear documentation
- Design, test, and implement system specifications, standards, and programming solutions
- Conduct systems analysis to identify operational improvements and recommend policy or procedural changes
- Stay updated on state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and industry best practices through continuous learning
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information to protect CPS and client businesses
- Collect, analyze, and summarize development and service issues to inform decision-making
- Study user needs and system workflows to develop effective software solutions, following the software development lifecycle
- Ensure quality and performance of BI solutions by performing testing and tuning of queries and data models
- Support the deployment and integration of BI tools, including Power BI dashboards and reports
- Engage in Agile development processes, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and reviews
