Who we are
Ministry with Community (MwC) is a non-profit organization located in Kalamazoo, MI. We are a daytime shelter and resource center, open 365 days a year from 6:30 am-4:00 pm. The mission of MwC is to empower people to make positive life changes. Position Objective
The Development Director helps Ministry with Community achieve its mission and maximize its impact in the community by enhancing the organization's vital revenue streams. The Development Director plans, manages and executes all aspects of fundraising and donor stewardship, oversees timely and accurate administration and record-keeping of contributions, represents the organization effectively in the community, and acts as an engaged and thoughtful leader as a member of the management team and multiple committees. In collaboration with the Marketing and Volunteer Coordinator, the Development Director is further responsible for ensuring effective and consistent messaging across multiple communication channels.
The Development Director must demonstrate compassion, integrity, and trust. This individual must uphold the highest standards of ethics and values in alignment with the mission of Ministry with Community.
Hours
This is a full-time, salaried/ exempt position. Ministry with Community is open 6:30am-4:00pm, 7 days/week; hours may vary.
Position Requirements
· Minimum of two years of fund development experience in a nonprofit environment.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
· Demonstrated excellence in organizational communication and leadership skills.
· Understanding of best practices related to fund development, donor relations, confidentiality, etc.
· Experience managing a donor database or other CRM software.
· Ability to effectively use a computer for data entry, word processing, receiving and sending email, using electronic calendars, etc.
· Comfort with common computer software, including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
· Ability to learn quickly (desire to continue learning) and exhibit creative problem-solving.
· Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
· Commitment to the highest level of customer service for both internal and external stakeholders (members, volunteers, colleagues, donors, etc.).
· Ability to provide own transportation to community events, meetings and fundraisers or possess a valid driver's license and pass an MVR check.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree or equivalent education.
· Experience using Bloomerang software.
Performance Expectations
First and foremost, place MwC member needs and the MwC mission front and center in all processes, decisions, tasks, work and efforts.
Utilize the MwC current strategic plan as the primary guide for determining the focus of all department efforts.
Actively support the Board of Directors and Executive Director in carrying out their strategic goals and objectives.
Manage all grant applications, grant reporting, and communication with foundations and grantmaking entities.
Oversee and execute all donor communications, including donor stewardship and retention strategies.
Research new funding sources and implement donor acquisition strategies.
Develop and execute planned giving and major donor programs.
Plan and execute fundraising events.
Maintain donor database; manage and update database procedures and policies as needed.
Manage flow of incoming revenue and internal donation processing.
Advise staff and contractors on internal controls, accuracy of income tracking, and record-keeping.
Represent the organization in the community at events, media appearances/communications, public speaking opportunities, etc. as appropriate and in strategic collaboration with the Executive Director and Marketing Coordinator.
With the Marketing Coordinator, oversee the development and execution of marketing and communication plans.
Review and contribute to newsletters as appropriate.
Act as staff liaison to the Development Committee. Participate in Finance Committee and Board of Directors meetings. Actively participate in and contribute to management team and organization-wide meetings on a regular basis.
Serve as a member of the internal management/leadership team.
Prepare annual income forecast budget.
Other duties as assigned.

Wage and Benefits
$61-64,000 annually, salaried/exempt commensurate with qualifications, plus benefits.
