The Team

Our Facilities Group is seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer with a sound knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and a demonstrated interest in building design. Recent Electrical Engineering graduates are encouraged to apply. The incumbent will work in-person at our New York corporate office.

Role and Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems; the development of power, lighting, and fire alarm plans including all associated circuitry, details, one-line diagrams, and specifications under supervision of a senior engineer.
• Perform basic design calculations including demand load calculations, lighting, wire and breaker sizing, voltage drop calculations, and other calculations required to support electrical design.
• Prepare design drawings and sketches for lighting/power/fire alarm systems.
• Participate in field engineering assignments.
• Coordinate with other professional disciplines (architectural, telecom, mechanical, structural, etc.) to ensure the accuracy of design, and the timely flow of information throughout the project.
• Interpret and apply basic concepts from Electrical Safety Codes, and other industry standards as they impact the design (including CSA, ULC, IEEE, etc.).

Qualifications

• A baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution.
• Understanding of the construction industry, solid knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and a demonstrated interest in building design.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in accessible ways, both verbally and in writing
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Experience with 2D/3D modeling and drafting software, including AutoCAD, and Revit an asset.
• Solid analytical, quantitative skills and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking
• Robust initiative and willingness to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
• Ability to multi-task with multiple projects to meet strict deadlines.

The salary range for this position will be between $75,000- $80,000. This is a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, licensure, location and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. At Loring, we offer a competitive benefits package, and eligibility for discretionary incentives based on position, which are determined by company and individual performance.
