Job Summary
As our HR Manager, you are an operational HR leader who thrives in high-volume, fast-paced environments and is ready to hit the ground running with minimal training. You bring strong HR generalist experience, a firm grasp of California compliance, and the ability to execute daily HR operations with accuracy, urgency, and sound judgment.
To be successful in this role, you must be able to independently manage core HR functions including employee relations, benefits, LOA, payroll oversight, onboarding, workers' compensation, and compliance reporting. You excel in environments where processes are evolving and enjoy implementing structure, improving systems, and strengthening team-wide consistency.

Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary contact for day-to-day employee relations, coaching managers and resolving escalated issues.
- Conduct investigations and ensure consistent documentation and follow-through.
Leave of Absences
- Administer FMLA, CFRA, PDL, ADA, and internal leave processes.
- Guide employees and managers through requirements and timelines.
Workers' Compensation
- Handle injury reporting, case management, and modified duty processes.
- Partner with Safety and Operations to reduce risk and maintain compliance.
Payroll & Timekeeping
- Oversee weekly payroll execution in partnership with HR Coordinator.
- Audit timecards, review adjustments, and maintain compliance with CA labor laws.
Benefits Administration
- Lead day-to-day benefits operations, QLEs, communication, and Open Enrollment.
- Support ESOP and 401(k) administration.
Onboarding & Offboarding
- Manage onboarding compliance steps (I-9s, systems setup, file creation).
- Ensure consistent and positive new-hire experience across all departments.
- Conduct exit processes in compliance with CA requirements.
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintain OSHA logs, EEO-1, Pay Data Reporting, and accurate employee files.
- Ensure HR processes align with federal, state, and local law.
Skills & Qualifications
Experience & Knowledge
- Approximately 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in hospitality, catering, food & beverage, events, or similar fast-paced, high-volume environments.
- Strong working knowledge of California HR laws, including wage and hour, LOA, WC, benefits, and employment compliance.
- Experience handling employee relations, investigations, onboarding, payroll/timekeeping oversight, and benefits administration.
- HRIS/timekeeping proficiency required; UKG experience is a plus.
- Bilingual is Spanish is highly preferred.

Pay Range
$85,000 – $100,000 annually, depending on experience. Salary Exempt
