Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Retail Assistant Manager to oversee daily store operations and support the management team. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, with a proven track record in retail management. This role involves supervising staff, managing inventory, ensuring excellent customer service, and contributing to sales growth. The Retail Assistant Manager will play a key role in maintaining store efficiency, implementing merchandising strategies, and fostering a positive shopping environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures
  • Supervise and motivate retail staff to achieve sales targets and deliver exceptional customer service
  • Oversee employee orientation, training & development, and performance evaluations
  • Manage inventory control, stock replenishment, and merchandising to optimize sales opportunities
  • Handle POS transactions, cash handling, pricing adjustments, and store bookkeeping
  • Support recruiting efforts by interviewing candidates and participating in hiring decisions
  • Coordinate purchasing activities and manage supplier relationships for inventory procurement
  • Implement marketing initiatives and promotional campaigns to increase store visibility
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and customer service protocols
  • Utilize management skills such as budgeting, sales management, and shift management to maximize store performance
  • Maintain effective communication with team members and upper management to ensure smooth operations

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in retail management or assistant manager roles within a grocery store or similar retail environment
  • Strong leadership skills with previous supervisory or team management experience
  • Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus
  • Proficiency in retail math, POS systems, inventory management software, and cash handling procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to handle negotiation, purchasing, merchandising, and marketing tasks
  • Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently
  • Experience in employee recruitment, training & development, payroll processing, and administrative tasks
  • Customer service-oriented mindset with exceptional phone etiquette and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and time management skills
  • Knowledge of retail sales strategies, pricing techniques, stock control, and store operations
