The Senior IT Engineer (CCNP or Arista L3)(ITIL Foundations)- Network is the technical leader responsible for design, deployment, configuration, administration, optimization, and maintenance of the Cache Creek Casino Resort network, including the voice, data, video and gaming networks. This position requires specialized knowledge of multi-vendor network hardware and peripheral solutions. This role should have the foundational knowledge and skills of network administration and architecture that include telecommunications and transmission technologies, topologies, programming applications, and administration interfaces.
Duties
Smart Hands & Onsite Support
- Serves as the top tier expert on network issues and emergencies and assists in troubleshooting and resolving communication and application incidents.
- Perform hardware installations, upgrades, replacements, and decommissioning as directed.
- Installs, configures, monitors, and troubleshoots on-site and cloud-based converged data/voice/video/gaming network systems, structured cabling solutions, network-based applications, and business services.
- Creates meaningful documentation on network topology, application dependencies, systems design, and standard operating procedures.
- Implements new installation and movement of network access locations throughout the casino venues. This includes coordination of network systems, structured cabling solution installation and Wide Area Network (WAN) circuits.
- Acts as internal consultant with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions. Communicates technical information to team members and company-wide staff.
- Trains and mentors IT Help Desk Technicians on how to resolve common level 0/1 application issues.
- Trains and mentors peer and junior level IT Engineers on network components of assigned business applications
- Ensures all audit findings are remediated within agreed upon timelines
- Manages vendor relationships for assigned business applications
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
Network Engineering
- Deploy and maintain enterprise-level LAN, WAN, VPN, Fibre Channel SAN, and wireless infrastructure.
- Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and Fibre Channel switches/directors (Brocade, Cisco MDS, or similar).
- Manage IP address allocations, DNS, DHCP
Systems Engineering
Administer Windows and Linux servers in on-premises and cloud environments.
- Manage virtualization platforms (VMware)
- Manage and monitor system monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
- Perform system updates, patching, and hardening to maintain compliance and security.
- Assist with storage systems connected via Fibre Channel SAN (e.g., EMC, NetApp, Pure Storage).
Cross-Functional Duties
- Collaborate with security and storage teams to ensure systems and networks meet industry standards (ISO, NIST, SOC 2).
- Document network, SAN, and system architecture, processes, and procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotations to support 24/7 mission-critical systems.
Experience & Qualifications Required (Must Have)
- Must be 21 or older
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of combined experience in network engineering and systems administration.
- Hands-on experience with Fibre Channel SAN technologies, zoning, and storage integration.
- Relevant certifications such as Tribal Gaming License, CCNA, or Arista L3
- ITIL Foundations
- Proficiency in Cisco, Juniper, or similar networking technologies.
- Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux server administration and Active Directory.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
Preferred
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, MCSE, RHCE, Brocade SAN, VCP or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of backup solutions and disaster recovery strategies.
Work Environment
- Primarily on-site at data centers, network facilities, or client locations.
- May require flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or on-call rotations to support 24/7systems.
Compensation
- $110,000 - $120,000/year, DOE
