As the Manager of the
Cloud
Backend Platform, you will lead a team responsible for building the
cloud
services that power Lucid's next-generation electric vehicles. Lucid vehicles generate massive volumes of onboard data every day. Your team will design the distributed
systems
and software platforms that securely process, analyze, and utilize this data to enhance
vehicle
safety, support collision avoidance, improve connectivity with external devices and
cloud
services, and optimize overall
vehicle
performance.

In this leadership role, you will leverage your expertise in computer science fundamentals, distributed
systems
, microservices
architecture
, and
cloud
technologies. You will guide the design, development, deployment, and evolution of backend services and platforms using technologies such as Golang, C/C++, Python,
Docker
,
Kubernetes
, TCP/UDP, Kafka/MQTT, and REST APIs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end conceptualization, design, development, and enhancement of cloud-based microservice applications.
  • Architect scalable, resilient cloud applications that meet high performance and reliability standards.
  • Design and optimize microservices for cloud environments with strong attention to throughput, latency, and resource efficiency.
  • Apply deep knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and system design to drive technical excellence.
  • Conduct and lead design reviews and code reviews to maintain high engineering standards.
  • Plan, manage, and deliver complex cloud software projects from inception to deployment.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and operation of containerized applications and cloud deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Define and implement cloud strategies, including technology selection and service architecture.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with development, data engineering, and quality assurance teams to align cloud initiatives with Lucid's business goals.
  • Establish and refine engineering processes, promote best practices, and drive team growth and effectiveness.

Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Go (Golang); experience with C/C++ and Python.
  • Expertise in designing and building microservices and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and container orchestration.
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/UDP.
  • Experience with streaming and messaging systems such as Kafka, MQTT, or similar technologies.
  • Proficiency in designing and consuming RESTful APIs.
  • Deep knowledge of data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and system design.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, or equivalent) and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud monitoring, and observability tools.

Leadership & Management Skills

  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams and managing large-scale cloud projects.
  • Ability to set technical direction, mentor engineers, and enforce high engineering standards.
  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive software development processes and guide teams toward successful delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with vehicle connectivity, IoT systems, or high-data-volume environments.
  • Background in real-time data processing, telemetry, or edge-to-cloud architectures.
  • Familiarity with security best practices for cloud and distributed systems
