We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Automotive Technician Apprentice to join our team and embark on a rewarding career path in the automotive industry. This entry-level position is designed for an individual eager to learn the trade from experienced, certified mechanics. The apprentice will gain hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, working closely with a dedicated mentor to develop technical skills and achieve professional certifications. We would prefer someone that has some experience in the dealership or aftermarket world as a mechanic however extensive experience is not necessary. Our veteran shop foreman will work hand in hand with you to hone your skills and help you become a master technician.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Experienced Technicians: Work alongside assigned mechanics to observe, learn, and assist with vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on various systems (engines, brakes, suspension, electrical, HVAC, etc.).
- Perform Basic Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, balancing and installations, fluid checks and flushes, and safety inspections, in accordance with manufacturer and shop standards.
- Learn and Diagnose: Utilize checklists, manuals, and diagnostic equipment to learn troubleshooting techniques and identify vehicle issues accurately.
- Maintain a Safe & Organized Shop: Keep the work area, tools, and equipment clean, organized, and properly stored. Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal.
- Documentation: Accurately document all work performed, parts used, and recommended services on repair orders and maintenance records
- Continuous Learning: Actively participate in all assigned formal training sessions, workshops, and manufacturer-sponsored programs to stay current with new automotive technologies.
- Customer Service: Maintain a professional demeanor and, when required, communicate effectively with service advisors or customers to explain basic repairs and maintenance needs in a clear, non-technical manner.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Completion of a formal automotive technology program or trade school is a plus.
- Mechanical Aptitude: A strong interest in the automotive field and a natural mechanical aptitude are essential.
- Work Ethic: Exceptional work ethic, a positive "can-do" attitude, and an eagerness to learn and grow with feedback.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced environment that may involve exposure to various weather conditions, fumes, and noise.
- Tools & Equipment: Familiarity with basic hand tools and the ability to learn to use diagnostic equipment safely and effectively.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $ $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
