DEFINITION: We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Assistant Site Coordinator to support the implementation of the WELL Program. Under the supervision of the WELL Program Director, and WELL School Site Coordinator or site administrator, provides child care services to the children attending, assists in the overall supervision, administration, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the District's WELL Programs. Provides a positive work environment, helps maintain a healthy classroom environment and maintains professionalism with students, staff and parents.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are typical duties and responsibilities for positions in this classification. Any single position may not perform all of these tasks, and/or may perform similar related tasks not listed below.

● Assist in the development and maintenance of a safe and structured afterschool learning environment following established grant guidelines and District policy and procedure

● Assist in the recruitment, hiring, monitoring, supervision, and professional development of assigned staff

● Assist in the Scheduling and coordination of enrichment activities and special events including but not limited to: parent workshops, in-services, field trips, etc.

● Assist in monitoring and ensure collection of daily attendance and student outcomes using various data management systems

● Collaborate with Program and District staff, site principals, community agencies and partners, and families regarding all aspects of the program

● Respond promptly and courteously to parent concerns and/or complaints, reporting interaction and outcomes to the Director

● Assist leaders in facility management, attendance, snacks, safety, and transportation needs

● Participates in staff meetings, conferences, in-service meetings, and other trainings

● Obtains supplies and necessary equipment for program activities

● Supervises children when subs are unavailable

● Operates standard office machines

● Performs other related work as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. KNOWLEDGE OF:

● Proper English grammar, punctuation and sentence structure

● Concepts of child development and child behavior characteristics and behavior management techniques

● Methods and attitudes required in working with children in a specialized program

● Understand general needs and behaviors of children, and demonstrated genuine empathy for children

● Basic concepts of supervising employees

● Routine filing and record keeping practices and procedures

Operation of a personal computer and assigned software

● Routine record keeping

ABILITY TO:

● Communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing

● Provide information to and supervise others

● Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

● Meet schedules and timelines

● Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action

● Work independently with limited direction

● Use a computer to input data, communicate with others and prepare various documents and reports

● Perform routine clerical work

● Maintain the confidentiality of school related information

● Relate positively to students, staff, and the public

● Manually lift safely and effectively up to 50 pounds or more

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:

● Education and/or -ECE units

● Bilingual/bi-literate in Spanish/English, preferred

● 1 years experience working with Pre K-12th grade students, preferred

● 1 years experience providing youth/site supervision, preferred

● Any equivalent combination of training and experience, including volunteer experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may be used to meet experience and education requirements

EDUCATION:

● AA or higher, highly desirable

REQUIRED LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:

● Fingerprint clearance

● Current CPR/First Aid certification

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

● Ability to read, write and speak in Spanish

● Site Supervisor Child Development Permit

● AA or higher

SKILLS TO:

  1. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions

  2. Maintain confidentiality of student and staff related information

  3. Read/interpret/apply site and District rules, regulations and policies

  4. Effectively interact with students, public, teachers, and staff

  5. Operate office, communication and audio visual equipment

  6. Assist in the maintenance of student files and retrieval of pertinent information

  7. Appropriately manage disruptive or abusive behavior of others

PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Move hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard; See to read a variety of materials; Hear and understand speech at normal levels; Speak at normal and above normal levels; Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; Occasional pushing and /or pulling; Occasional moving, lifting, and carrying items up to fifty (50) pounds.

Pay: $ $23.51 per hour
