Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and veterinary procedures, with the ability to support veterinarians in providing exceptional medical care for a diverse range of animals. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where animal welfare is the top priority, utilizing a broad skill set including animal handling, laboratory work, and critical care.

Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and treatments, ensuring proper animal restraint and safety.
  • Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Handle various animals including dogs, cats, equines, and other small or exotic species with care and professionalism.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and document all procedures performed.
  • Prepare animals for surgery or diagnostic imaging, including X-ray procedures and aseptic techniques.
  • Support pet grooming, pet care, and animal husbandry activities to ensure overall well-being of patients.
  • Assist with animal catheterization, X-ray imaging, dental procedures using dental terminology knowledge, and pet grooming tasks.
  • Manage kennel duties such as cleaning, feeding, and monitoring animals' health status.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols including animal restraint techniques and aseptic procedures.

Experience

  • Prior kennel experience or pet care experience preferred.
  • Veterinary technician experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and critical care techniques is essential.
  • Experience with laboratory testing, X-ray operation, dental terminology related to veterinary dentistry, and animal catheterization is a plus.
  • Skills in dog handling, animal restraint, pet grooming, dog training, and equine experience are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with animal husbandry practices and pet care routines necessary for providing high-quality veterinary support. This position requires a passionate individual committed to animal health and welfare with the ability to work effectively within a team dedicated to excellence in veterinary medicine.

Pay: $ $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
