DB2 Database Administrator

Job Summary (List Format) – DB2 Database Administrator ( Remote)

• Manage and administer DB2 databases on z/OS and/or LUW (Linux, UNIX, Windows) platforms.
• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain DB2 database instances and related tools.
• Perform regular database health checks, backups, and recovery operations.
• Optimize database performance through monitoring, tuning, and query optimization.
• Plan and execute database migration and modernization projects, including cloud migrations (e.g., PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
• Manage tablespaces, indexes, buffer pools, data partitioning, and implement performance tuning at DB, application, and system levels.
• Ensure database security by managing user roles, privileges, and implementing encryption and compliance measures (SOX, GDPR).
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX, JCL, Python, or Shell scripting.
• Implement and monitor disaster recovery and high-availability solutions; test and validate backup/recovery procedures.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and operations teams to support end-to-end database solutions.
• Provide production support, including on-call and after-hours support as needed.
• Document database architecture, configuration, and standard operating procedures.
• Utilize mainframe and monitoring tools (e.g., Omegamon, CA tools) and batch scheduling tools (CA7, Control-M).
• Work closely with developers to enhance SQL efficiency and support mainframe modernization initiatives.
