Building Maintenance Technician

Overview
We are looking for a skilled technician with 2 or more years of hands-on experience in electrical, plumbing, and general carpentry, with HVAC expertise being highly preferred. This is a swing shift-role requiring flexibility to travel throughout the Sacramento region, providing facilities maintenance services within commercial buildings. The ideal candidate must be team-oriented and bring a strong customer service mindset, as well as a commitment to delivering high-quality work across a variety of building systems.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs a variety of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, cement masonry, and HVAC preventative maintenance and repair tasks within commercial facilities.
- Repairs interior walls, finishes, and minor flooring damage.
- Assists as directed in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, steam system, automatic temperature control, electrical, water filtration and treatment systems; operates motorized lifts and equipment as needed.
- Researches and solicits vendors for repair parts and preventative maintenance parts for equipment.
- Purchases required supplies and materials to complete various projects.
- Provide responsive customer service to building tenants, ensuring minimal disruption to building operations.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
- Participate in on-call rotation as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED; Trade school coursework in general carpentry, HVAC, electrical and/or building maintenance is preferred.
- Minimum 2-3 years BMT of related work experience in building maintenance is required.
Knowledge And Skills
- Knowledge of OSHA occupational safety regulations is required.
- Ability to read and understand construction, electrical and equipment blueprints and schematics is required.
- Knowledge of the proper use of specialized departmental equipment including those used in the plumbing, electrical, HVAC and general carpentry trades is required.
- Basic computer literacy for entering and looking up information using standard business software is required.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships with staff, customers and others is required.
- Demonstrated organizational, problem solving and common-sense skills are required.
- Must be able to pass multiple, comprehensive pre-employment background investigations and drug screen is required.
- Knowledge of the Construction Management industry is preferred.
License and Certifications
- EPA Certification preferred.
- A valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record, free from suspensions or restrictions, is required.
Work Environment
This is a safety sensitive position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a variety of environments including mechanical rooms, office space and construction areas. Conditions occasionally include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet conditions, noise, atmospheric conditions, and cramped quarters. The noise level in the work environment is regularly moderate and occasionally loud.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, physical demands may include sitting, standing, lifting, crouching, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders, exposure to toxic substances, exposure to risk of electrical shock, keyboarding and viewing computer monitor requiring close vision. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must frequently lift and or move 5 pounds and occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
Travel
Travel will be required within the Sacramento area, up to 2 hours outside of the region.

The starting hourly range for this role is currently $30.00-$34.00/hour. The Company's salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of various factors, including job-related skills, relevant education and experience, abilities of the applicant and equity with other team members. The annual base salary range listed here is subject to change at any time, in the Company's discretion, and does not alter in any way the at-will nature of the employment relationship.
