Established in 2002, Latinitas is a nonprofit dedicated to empowering girls and their communities through culturally relevant education. Through after-school clubs, summer camps, conferences, and more, we provide hands-on opportunities for young people to build skills, discover new interests, and grow their confidence. Our bilingual programs encourage exploration in media, technology, and digital literacy. Over the years, we have also broadened our services to include computer literacy and workforce-readiness programming that supports families and strengthens the wider community.
Job Summary
As the Development Coordinator, you will play an important role in supporting the organization's fundraising and community engagement efforts. This includes coordinating core development activities such as volunteer recruitment, internship coordination, donor and sponsor engagement, and event logistics. You will also support logistical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our development initiatives. This position helps the Development team with fundraising efforts and supports engagement with donors, sponsors, volunteers, and interns across the community.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and appreciation of interns and volunteers.
- Support the planning and execution of fundraising events, informational tabling, and program-related events.
- Communicate with community partners to understand needs, secure materials, and coordinate event logistics including setup and breakdown.
- Recruit and manage volunteers and staff for event roles, ensuring smooth and successful event operations.
- Present publicly and represent Latinitas at volunteer orientations and community events.
- Assist with the creation of event materials such as signage, certificates, décor, and promotional items.
- Support donor and sponsor engagement by helping obtain in-kind donations, event sponsorships, and other contributions.
- Leverage relationships with corporate employee groups to support volunteer efforts and workplace giving opportunities.
- Create agendas, take meeting notes, and manage follow-up tasks for Development-related meetings.
- Assist with administrative tasks that keep development activities organized and on track.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of Development team goals.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with volunteers, partners, donors, and sponsors.
- Creative problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment. Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Creativity in supporting fundraising activities and event execution.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Familiarity with nonprofit operations or community-focused programs is preferred.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and Slack; experience with donor platforms, and Canva is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
