We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Des Moines, Iowa. As a Shipping Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all outgoing shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with company and carrier standards. This position involves meticulous record-keeping, coordination with warehouse staff, and timely preparation of shipping documentation. You will be responsible for verifying shipment contents, selecting appropriate packaging materials, and affixing correct labels and postage. A strong understanding of shipping procedures and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment are essential. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under pressure, especially during peak periods. You will interact with various departments to resolve any shipping-related issues and contribute to the overall smooth operation of our distribution center. Responsibilities:
- Prepare, verify, and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading and manifests.
- Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy and ensure proper packaging and labeling.
- Coordinate with freight carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments.
- Maintain accurate inventory records of shipping supplies.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed, including occasional lifting.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners regarding shipping status.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
- Familiarity with shipping software and basic computer skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
