Provides support to and maintains multiple production and/or non-production databases of significant and/or strategic impact across the enterprise. Responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration. Responsibilities o Provide strategic engineering leadership to drive technology improvements o Take ownership of projects to ensure successful implementation including Tech-Stack upgrade efforts o Foster relationship and act as a technical liaison between the DBA Team and the Lines of Business o Performs backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configures database parameters and prototype designs against logical data models, and defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements o Optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost o Tune the stored procedures of simple to complex, assist the development team to optimize the application. o Experience in writing or assisting the T-SQL and PowerShell scripts. o Ensures service level agreements are met for internal and external clients o Automate the mundane process using T-SQL or PowerShell scripts. o Provides status reports that detail issues for escalation to management o Performs configuration, scripting, analysis, installation, monitoring, administration and tuning for database management systems o Performs data analysis to provide management with timely and accurate information and predict future requirements o Develops, implements and tests database backup and recovery policies and procedures. o Creates and maintains documentation for database policies, procedures, and processes. o Performs/schedules routine maintenance on databases to keep them running at peak performance. o Monitors database performance, availability, and capacity o Review database storage utilization to ensure proper whitespace allocations o Review and develop trend analysis for incident remediation and prevention o Participates in continuous business process redesign to improve internal operations o Interfaces with user departments remotely and on-site to assist in the implementation of work requests and provide operational support o Troubleshoots issues and recommends solutions o Research and evaluate new RDBMS for possible implementation o Experience in setting up, managing Distributed Availability groups (DAG) across multiple domains. o Performs other duties as required Knowledge and Experience • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience • Requires nine (9) or more years of experience working with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment. o Required to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation o Expert level knowledge of SQL Server database management systems (2012, 2014, 2017, & 2019 [SQL 2022 is a plus]) o Expert level knowledge SQL performance and tuning o Expert level knowledge of Microsoft Geo-Clustering, Always-On Availability Groups in local & geographically dispersed data centers, Distributed Availability groups (DAG) across multiple domains. o Extensive knowledge of task automation o Strong database design and analysis skills o Knowledge of backup and recovery operations for database management systems o Knowledge of database encryption such as Always Encrypted, Protegrity, TDE, and TLS o Knowledge of OS, storage, and network layers for troubleshooting purposes o Knowledge of relational database concepts and terminology o Ability to monitor and tune databases and instances o Ability to maintain and monitor availability, security, and integrity of databases o Ability to focus on production and customer needs and deliverables o Ability to adapt to the use of new software tools as they are acquired or adopted within IT o Strong written and verbal communication skills o Must be self-motivated, a team player, and have a strong track record in customer satisfaction o Demonstrated experience with successful system and project implementations Preferred Knowledge and Experience o Knowledge of T-SQL, PowerShell Scripting and Automation o Knowledge of AWS – RDS SQL o Knowledge of Microsoft Azure RDBMS o Knowledge of Cloud SaaS RDBMS o Knowledge of OLA Hallengren maintenance plans o Experience with scripting languages o Strong problem-solving skills o Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision o Ability to learn and apply new skills in a constantly changing technical environmentaa415a4b-8b21-40fc-a65c-70d2b25ca29a
