We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) and/or Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our dynamic veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong passion for animal care, excellent technical skills, and a commitment to providing compassionate service. This role involves supporting veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical care, managing patient treatments, and ensuring the well-being of a diverse range of animals. *Responsibilities*
* Assist veterinarians with clinical procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and administering medications.
* Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to aid in accurate diagnosis.
* Maintain detailed medical records and ensure proper documentation of treatments, medications, and patient progress.
* Support animal husbandry tasks including feeding, grooming, and ensuring cleanliness of kennels and treatment areas.
* Operate X-ray equipment safely while adhering to aseptic techniques to produce clear diagnostic images.
* Provide exceptional animal handling and restraint during examinations or procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
* Contribute to pet care education for clients on topics such as pet grooming, nutrition, and general animal health.
* LVT's will need to be licensed in NY State and have experienced in technical duties.
*Qualifications*
* Valid license as a Veterinary Technician (LVT) or experienced veterinary assistants with relevant skills are encouraged to apply.
* Proven experience along with familiarity with animal handling techniques across various species.
* Strong understanding of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy knowledge, and veterinary critical care practices.
* Experience with laboratory procedures such as sample collection and analysis; familiarity with X-ray operation is preferred.
* Knowledge of dental terminology, pet grooming techniques, and dog training methods is advantageous.
* Ability to perform animal restraint effectively while maintaining a calm environment for animals undergoing treatment or diagnostics.
* Excellent communication skills combined with attention to detail; capable of working efficiently in fast-paced environments requiring multitasking.
