Your Opportunity to SHINE ON:

At the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg, we believe that belonging is the heart of potential, and for more than 130 years, Camp Stephens—owned and operated by the YMCA-YWCA of Winnipeg—has brought this belief to life through exceptional overnight camp experiences on its island site in the heart of Lake of the Woods, Kenora, Ontario. Guided by The Y Way and our commitment to Shine On Experiences, Camp Stephens fosters a culture where safety, inclusion, growth, and community are embedded in everything we do.

As the Section Coordinator, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the day-to-day camper experience by guiding and supporting a team of Cabin Leaders. This is an active vacancy, not a future hiring pool, and the successful candidate will make an immediate impact by fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging camp environment—helping ensure Camp Stephens remains a place where campers and staff continue to Shine On

WHY you'll love Camp Stephens:

Working at Camp Stephens means being part of a values-driven, people-first culture grounded in inclusiveness, well-being, sustainability, and inspiration. You will work closely with a collaborative leadership team, support meaningful youth development, and contribute to a vibrant camp community in a unique, mission-driven environment that values belonging, mentorship, and growth.

HOW you'll create Moments that Matter:

You will lead and supervise a team of Cabin Leaders, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure high-quality camper care and positive behaviour management. You will oversee the delivery of cabin and section programming, ensuring activities are safe, engaging, and aligned with camp policies and values. You will also manage key administrative responsibilities, including schedules, camper and staff coordination, parent communication, and end-of-season reporting to support continuous improvement.

You'll bring

  • Experience supervising staff or working in leadership roles within a camp, educational, or youth-focused environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and behaviour-management skills, with the ability to foster inclusive, respectful, and supportive environments.
  • A demonstrated commitment to camper safety, youth development, and the Y's mission and values.
  • Required Certifications: Standard First Aid with CPR-C

How Y Winnipeg Supports Your Impact:

  • Compensation: Daily Wage of $98.33
  • Professional Development: Paid training and certification opportunities; applicants who do not yet have all required certifications are encouraged to apply, as training and support may be available
  • On-site Accommodation: Includes board and lodging during the camp season
  • Wellness: Complimentary Y membership and access to Employee Assistance Program
  • A supportive, people-centred environment where your leadership and contributions are valued
