We are seeking a diligent Shipping & Receiving Associate to join our logistics team in Washington, D.C. This critical role ensures the accurate and efficient processing of all incoming and outgoing shipments. You will be responsible for managing the receiving dock, verifying deliveries, preparing outgoing shipments, and maintaining detailed records. This position requires a strong understanding of warehouse operations, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to safety and accuracy. You will work closely with our logistics and operations departments to maintain seamless workflow and support our supply chain. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will be key to success.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders.
- Inspect goods for damage or discrepancies and report any issues.
- Process outgoing shipments, ensuring correct documentation and labeling.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely.
- Stock received items accurately into warehouse locations.
- Prepare shipments for pickup by carriers.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe receiving and shipping area.
- Conduct regular inventory checks and assist with cycle counting.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the proper use of PPE.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and carriers.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations is preferred.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Understanding of logistics processes and documentation.
- Knowledge of warehouse safety standards and the importance of PPE.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
