As part of this transformation, we are seeking a certified Microsoft Fabric professional to join our Data & Analytics team and help shape the future of data-driven decision-making across the university. The Principal Data Engineer is an exciting new role leading the development of our enterprise data platform using Microsoft Fabric. Within that context, the role holder will be part of the team, with responsibility for the delivery, methods of deployment and management of high-quality business intelligence systems. The enterprise data platform is a key to delivering an enhanced breadth of high-impact analytics and reporting that support the University’s strategic initiatives. As Principal Data Engineer, you will play an important role in supporting the University to transform the technology that underpins the way that data is managed, and business reporting is produced, by bringing your knowledge and experience of architecting data solutions to this role. You will act as a source of knowledge and experience in the team; supporting, coaching and supervising team members as required. Co-ordinating all day-to-day activities, relating to the enterprise data platform, to ensure the successful implementation and ongoing management of the platforms and tools that underpin it. We are seeking someone with extensive knowledge of data warehouse development and specifically Microsoft Fabric, along with a keen interest in technology. You will need to be someone with proven data engineering and analytics experience, along with problem-solving and systems analysis skills, and the ability to work in a challenging environment, adapting to changing priorities and timescales and meet deadlines, demonstrating enthusiasm and evidence of a proactive approach to continuous service improvement and opportunity generation. Experience of large-scale project management is essential, involving supervision of work and proactive liaison with Project Managers, cross-functional team members, consultants and senior users as required. Hence, we are looking for an excellent communicator, with the ability to develop strong working relationships with staff at all levels and thoroughly document your work.
