Our fast-paced logistics center in Washington, D.C. is seeking a dedicated Material Handler to support our warehouse operations. As a Material Handler, you will play a crucial role in the movement, organization, and preparation of goods within the facility. This position requires physical stamina and a commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. You will be responsible for receiving, stocking, picking, and preparing materials for shipment. This involves using manual dexterity and sometimes utilizing material handling equipment under supervision. Your attention to detail ensures that all materials are handled correctly, contributing to the overall success of our supply chain. We are looking for individuals who are reliable, hardworking, and eager to learn. This role offers a competitive hourly wage and the opportunity to grow within the logistics industry.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and unload incoming materials and products.
- Inspect shipments for damages or discrepancies.
- Stock materials in designated warehouse locations.
- Pick and pack orders accurately according to customer specifications.
- Prepare outgoing shipments, ensuring proper packaging and labeling.
- Operate hand trucks, dollies, and other material handling equipment as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all warehouse Safety procedures and guidelines.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock checks.
- Communicate with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth workflow.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a warehouse or material handling role is advantageous.
- Ability to perform tasks requiring significant Lifting, typically up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in a demanding environment.
- Basic understanding of warehouse operations and logistics.
- Commitment to workplace Safety and following instructions.
- Must be able to wear and use required PPE, such as safety vests and gloves.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.
