Key job responsibilities:
Lead the design and implementation of large data solutions for Amazon's proprietary talent products
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and implement appropriate data models
Develop and maintain efficient ETL processes and data pipelines
Implement data quality controls and monitoring systems
Create and optimize physical data models for performance and scalability
Establish data governance standards and best practices
Build automated data validation and testing frameworks
Design and implement data security controls and access patterns
Optimize query performance and data storage efficiency
Stay current with the latest data engineering tools and methodologies, continuously improving the team's capabilities and efficiency
About the team The ITDS Analytics team owns both career development and employee onboarding experiences at Amazon. Our team of Data Engineers, Business Intelligence Engineers, and analytics leadership builds scalable data infrastructure powering the employee journey from day one through their career. We support 1.5M+ Amazonians globally through robust data architecture, pipelines, and warehouse solutions that enable data-driven decision making. With our highly collaborative and fast-moving culture, we’re seeking talented Data Engineers passionate about building large‑scale data solutions to enhance the Amazon employee experience.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of data engineering experience
Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
Experience with SQL
Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $205,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
