Seeking a proficient Material Handler to join our bustling logistics facility in Kansas City, Missouri. In this role, you will be essential to the smooth movement of materials throughout our warehouse. Your primary responsibilities will include operating material handling equipment, loading and unloading trucks, and organizing inventory to ensure efficient workflow. This position requires a strong focus on operational efficiency, accuracy, and, above all, safety . You will work closely with the receiving, shipping, and inventory teams to facilitate timely and accurate order fulfillment. We expect all our Material Handlers to be adept at managing a variety of materials and to operate equipment with precision. A key component of this role is the adherence to strict safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE ). The job involves considerable physical activity, including frequent lifting of items up to 60 lbs, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods. Understanding of warehouse operations and logistics is highly valued. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other powered industrial trucks to move materials.
- Load and unload trucks and containers efficiently and safely.
- Transport materials to and from designated areas within the warehouse.
- Organize and stack materials in proper storage locations.
- Assist with inventory management and cycle counting as needed.
- Inspect equipment before use and report any defects or maintenance issues.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Wear and properly use all required PPE , including safety shoes, gloves, and eye protection.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
- Support overall logistics operations by ensuring materials are available when and where needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Valid forklift operator certification is required.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 60 lbs repetitively.
- Familiarity with warehouse logistics and inventory control.
- Strong understanding of and commitment to workplace safety .
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Must be able to wear and use all required PPE .
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
