About the Role We are seeking a Mid-Level DevOps Engineer to join our Technical Solutions Team at Halliburton. This pivotal role involves implementing and maintaining the delivery platform within the Neftex subsurface evaluation product portfolio. The ideal candidate will be self‑motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate about building scalable, cloud‑based solutions. You will work closely with application developers and cross‑functional teams to design, develop, and optimize infrastructure, automation pipelines, and operational tools. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to innovative projects, enhance operational efficiencies, and grow within a dynamic environment. Based in our Abingdon, Oxfordshire office, you will be at the forefront of deploying cutting‑edge DevOps practices to support our global operations.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an equivalent field.
At least 3 years of experience in building and maintaining distributed systems in on‑premises environments, including private cloud and hybrid solutions.
Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform.
Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks.
Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for operational automation.
Understanding of networking principles, including firewall configurations, routing, and security practices.
Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools like CloudWatch, Prometheus, or Grafana.
Familiarity with public cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to work effectively in an agile, fast‑paced environment.
Preferred qualifications include experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes, knowledge of infrastructure security protocols, and familiarity with configuration management tools such as Ansible. Candidates with experience in SOC2 compliance, virtualization technologies, and cross‑functional team collaboration will be highly regarded.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain scalable and resilient infrastructure supporting various applications.
Develop, manage, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment workflows.
Create and maintain automation scripts for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes.
Develop operational tooling and scripts to enhance monitoring, logging, backups, and incident management capabilities.
Collaborate with software development teams to ensure seamless integration of applications with infrastructure components.
Monitor system performance, reliability, and availability using appropriate tools and metrics; proactively identify and resolve issues.
Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and deployment challenges across multiple environments.
Implement and uphold cloud security policies, best practices, and compliance standards.
Maintain and improve Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts and templates to ensure consistency and repeatability.
Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives.
Document infrastructure architecture, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides for team reference.
Stay informed about emerging cloud technologies, automation frameworks, and DevOps trends, recommending improvements as appropriate.
