We are hiring a Material Handler for our Grand Rapids, Michigan location. This role is fundamental to our warehouse operations, involving the physical movement and organization of materials. You will be responsible for receiving, storing, and distributing materials, equipment, and products using forklifts and other manual handling equipment. The Material Handler plays a key part in ensuring the smooth flow of goods and maintaining an organized and safe work environment. This position requires physical stamina and a commitment to following all safety protocols.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and store incoming materials and products.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment to move materials within the warehouse.
- Pick and pack orders accurately according to customer requirements.
- Assist with inventory counts and help maintain accurate inventory records.
- Organize and maintain a clean and orderly warehouse environment.
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations, including the correct use of PPE.
- Load outgoing shipments onto trucks for delivery.
- Report any damaged materials or equipment to supervision.
- Participate in team efforts to achieve departmental goals and support overall logistics objectives.
- Perform other warehouse duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a material handler or in a similar warehouse role is preferred.
- Ability to perform frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment and safety practices.
- Understanding of basic logistics principles.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical condition and stamina.
- Willingness to wear appropriate PPE at all times.
