Navy Beach is a seasonal, waterfront restaurant in Montauk, New York, entering its 17th season. Known for elevated coastal cuisine, craft cocktails, and a relaxed yet refined atmosphere, Navy Beach is a high-volume destination that values professionalism, creativity, and genuine hospitality.
We are seeking an experienced Beverage Director or Bar Manager (DOE) to join our leadership team for the 2026 season. This role is ideal for a beverage-driven leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys mentoring teams, and takes pride in delivering consistently excellent guest experiences.
Position SummaryThe Beverage Director / Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing Navy Beach's beverage program and bar operations while supporting floor leadership during service. This role includes menu development, product selection, inventory and cost controls, staff training, and hands-on leadership during service.
ResponsibilitiesBeverage & Bar Leadership
Curate and execute the beverage program across cocktails, wine, beer, spirits, and NA offerings
Develop beverage menus and cocktail recipes; ensure consistency and quality
Manage ordering, inventory, par levels, and cost controls
Oversee bar setup, breakdown, liquor storage, and wine room organization
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety of all bar areas
Achieve beverage COGS and financial targets
Complete required beverage reporting
Service & Floor Management
Lead by example to ensure warm, polished, and attentive guest service
Assign service staff to sections and oversee smooth floor flow
Support FOH team during service and handle guest recovery situations
Collaborate with kitchen and management teams to maintain seamless operations
Team Development & Operations
Interview, hire, train, and develop bar and service staff
Provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations
Assist with scheduling and staffing coverage
Ensure compliance with health, safety, cash handling, and labor standards
Support management initiatives, events, and marketing activations
3+ years of hospitality experience; management experience preferred
Strong knowledge of wine, beer, spirits, and classic/contemporary cocktails
A calm, confident leadership style with a passion for hospitality
Ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with Micros POS, Resy, Avero, and Excel
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Open availability including nights, weekends, and holidays
