Raytheon has an opportunity for a Principal Linux System Administrator operational support and sustainment for a high priority operational environment which supports a critical U.S. Government mission. This position will support an evolving system with opportunities for the candidate to provide technical input and direction for the architectural changes necessary to support growing requirements of the system. This candidate is expected to be self-directed, able to multi-task and prioritize work, possess problem solving skills, have written and verbal communication skills, is customer focused, and organized. The candidate will follow Raytheon engineering process as well as other government mandated processes during the life cycle of systems they will maintain. What You Will Do: You will provide System Administration in a heterogeneous Redhat 8 & 9 Enterprise Linux environment. You will utilize virtualization and containerization technologies, including VMware vCenter, vSphere, Horizon, ESXi, KVM, Podman, Docker, and Kubernetes/OpenShift. Collaborate with engineers, software developers, systems administrators, storage, networking, and high-performance computing teams to resolve complex infrastructure and integration challenges. Partner with cybersecurity teams to ensure continuous compliance with regulatory and security frameworks such as DFARS, RMF, and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework. Provide critical, on-site support for mission systems in a closed DoD area, responding to both planned and emergent tasks, with occasional work outside standard hours and up to 10% travel as required. Obtain and maintain DoD 8140 / 8570 certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ or equivalent) within six months of hire. This position is 100% onsite role. Qualifications You Must Have: Typically requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience or a master's degree and minimum of 3 years of prior relevant experience. Must have active and transferable U.S. government issued secret clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including system installation, administration, patching, and troubleshooting in enterprise environments. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
