Pinchin is seeking a Project Engineer – Forensic and Structural Engineering to join our Building Science & Sustainability team in Mississauga, ON. This newly created role reports directly to the Senior Technical Manager and offers an exciting opportunity to shape its future.

Role Overview

As a Forensic and Structural Specialist at Pinchin, you'll help create safer, stronger communities by ensuring buildings perform as intended. Your work empowers clients to make informed decisions, protect investments, and reduce risk, supporting Pinchin's mission of trust and sustainability.

Based in our Mississauga office, you'll conduct structural assessments, forensic investigations, and collaborate on multidisciplinary projects. From roofing and building envelopes to hazard assessments and litigation support, your expertise will resolve challenges and prevent future issues, making a real impact on the built environment.

Your Impact as Project Engineer

  • Conduct structural assessments, forensic investigations, and provide engineering recommendations and technical reports.
  • Prepare structural drawings and technical documentation for a verity of projects and perform peer reviews of team members' work.
  • Perform structural analysis and design for repairs and reinforcements of existing structures.
  • Review structural drawings and documentation for quality and compliance.
  • Conduct site visits to assess structural conditions and monitor construction progress.
  • Support Building Envelope and Restoration teams on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams in engineering, building science, and real estate to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Stay current with codes, standards, and emerging technologies in structural engineering.
  • Participate in client meetings and represent Pinchin in a professional manner.
  • Assist in project coordination, proposal development, and scheduling.
  • Support junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams.
  • Manage projects to ensure adherence to schedule and budget constraints

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • Eng. license in good standing in Ontario required.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years of experience in structural engineering, including forensic and restoration work.
  • Experience in field investigations, damage assessments, and structural design.
  • Good Knowledge with Ontario Building Code, construction practices, material science, and loss causation analysis.
  • Familiarity with: CSA standards; Construction Act, Municipal Act, and OHSA ; CCDC contracts and consulting agreements.
  • Strong skills in interpreting structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
  • Effective problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, and structural design software.
  • Valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle. Work-related travel is compensated.
