Location: 490 Sherbourne Street

Shift Rotation: 10 am to 6 pm, Wednesday to Sunday

Salary: $24.00 per hour

Union/Non-Union: Unionized

Reports to: Program Manager, Community Engagement and Volunteer

Fife House is an innovative, client-focused provider of secure and supportive affordable housing and services to people living with HIV/AIDS in the Greater Toronto Area. With approximately 110 staff working across 6 locations, in , Fife House served more than 850 residents and clients by providing supportive and transitional housing programs as well as outreach programs to homeless clients and their families.

Fife House is seeking a dedicated individual to fill the role of Social Activities Worker position who will work across a number of our programs. As a member of the team, the Social Activities Worker will work with the Community Engagement and Volunteer Program Manager to develop and implement a diverse range of social activities for Fife House residents/clients across service locations, in alignment with unique program needs and fulfillment of relevant funding deliverables.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Activity Planning and Coordination

●Social recreation planning, with the ability to develop and implement social activities that enhance dailyliving.

●Works with the Community Engagement and Volunteer Program Manager to develop and implement adiverse range of social activities tailored to the interests and needs of tenants.

●Collaborate with tenants to gather input and feedback on desired activities.

●Schedule and promote events to ensure maximum participation.

Event Organization and Facilitation

●The ability to lead and facilitate social activities, ensuring a welcoming and inclusive environment.

●Skills in workshop development and delivery.

●Experience in assisting participants/tenants in participating in activities and providing support asneeded.

●Monitor and evaluate the success of activities/events and adjust for future activities to meet the needsof the community.

Community Engagement

●Foster relationships with local organizations and community groups to enhance activity offerings.

●Ability to enhance programs and services.

Support and Assistance

●Provide emotional support and companionship to participants/tenants during activities.

●Assist tenants with mobility or other needs to ensure their full participation.

Qualifications

●The Social Activities worker is a dedicated position for people who identify as a Person Living withHIV/AIDS.

●Experience in social work, community engagement, social recreation, or a related field.

●Knowledge of Harm Reduction.

●Experience in developing and implementing social activities to enhance daily living and fostercommunity engagement.

●Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

●Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

●Compassionate and patient demeanour.

ASSET:

●Knowledge of HIV infection in the current context, including the impact of stigma and discrimination

●Experience working with people who come from diverse racial, gender, ethnic, and culturalbackgrounds and who have experienced varying degrees of mental health, social isolation, andsubstance use

●Knowledge of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and skill training

●Comfortable with light cleaning and groundskeeping

●Food Handlers Certification

●Naloxone Training

Skills

●Organizational and time management skills.

●Creativity in planning engaging activities.

●Problem-solving skills to address any challenges that arise during events.

●Microsoft 365

●The position is based at Fife House, which provides a supportive and inclusive atmosphere for bothstaff and tenants.
