Über

The LTL Central Operations Team Lead is responsible for overseeing Manitoba and Saskatchewan LTL deliveries and linehaul transportation through Winnipeg warehouse. This would include supporting each team member with any operational planning tasks and their own personal development. The Team Lead would also be responsible for the regional LOS, planning load quality as well as other LTL initiatives. They would work closely with the warehouse leads and partner carriers to improve process and KPIs.

Key responsibilities include:

1) People Development and Support

  • The Central Team Lead monitors, evaluates and advises on day-to-day decision-making of the Central Regional Coordinators and linehaul coordinators.
  • Reports and measures Central's performance data to identify efficiencies and implement solutions.
  • Assists the Central Team to work with other areas of operations to successfully move freight (i.e. Fleet Managers, Planners, Logistics, etc.).
  • Evaluate the decisions of the Central team both on a coordinating and partner carrier level and assist in providing experienced and more efficient solutions if any.
  • The Central Team Lead also assists in any training or succession planning for a specific role on the team by evaluating the needs of the Central region with a more experienced hands-on approach.
  • Collaborate with other regions to optimize network decisions.

2) Regional Development

  • Assisting in identifying network opportunities.
  • Maintaining intradepartmental relationships.
  • Coordinating with warehouse for scheduling.
  • Process development and best practices.
  • Partner carriers spend and evaluation.

3) Maintaining Service Levels

  • Evaluating regional LOS.
  • Supporting high level of customer communication with the Customer Service team.
  • Reviewing planning decisions.

4) Other:

  • Communicate and coordinate the strategy and planning of LTL Central Operations Team to the LTL Customer Service Team and LTL Pricing Team.
  • Step into other areas of business as required.
  • Work closely with warehouse leads on KPI measures
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by LTL Supervisor.

Our Ideal Candidate will possess:

  • 1-2 years related experience in transportation or a similar role.
  • Ability to demonstrate success using strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a multi-task, deadline orientated, high volume and fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Able to quickly adapt to changes, shift focus, meet deadlines, and complete time-sensitive tasks.
  • Knowledge of the geography of North America.
  • Knowledge of the Trucking Rules and Regulations, Service Capabilities and Standards, Freight Lanes and Rates.
  • Proficiency with MS Office and the ability to learn complex programs.
