Job Overview Business Analyst (Contract) – London / Staines‑upon‑Thames,
Outside IR35 , £300‑375 per day.
Sector: Public Sector. Hybrid working arrangement. Requires strong analytical skills, Agile experience, and prior government sector work.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct investigative analysis into current systems, processes and data pipelines to understand the “as‑is” state.
Identify gaps, inefficiencies and hidden dependencies to build a clear picture of the current environment.
Work with stakeholders to clarify and validate what needs to be done, ensuring alignment to business priorities.
Elicit, analyse and document requirements in the form of user stories, use cases, acceptance criteria and process flows.
Facilitate workshops, interviews and discovery sessions with both business and technical stakeholders.
Collaborate with Product Owners to prioritise backlogs and refine requirements for delivery.
Translate findings into structured documentation to support decision‑making, delivery and governance.
Ensure compliance with data protection, governance and security standards (e.g. GDPR, DPIA, RBAC).
Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and confirm that delivered features meet business needs.
Continuously seek opportunities to simplify, clarify and improve processes based on investigative findings.
Key Skills & Experience
Strong investigative and analytical skills – able to dig into existing systems and processes to discover gaps.
Experience documenting as‑is and to‑be processes, data flows and dependencies.
Proven background in Agile business analysis, writing user stories and acceptance criteria.
Prior experience working in the public sector digital domain is highly desirable.
Experience in data‑related projects, including collaboration with data engineering and analytics teams.
Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
Excellent communication skills – able to distil complex findings into clear insights.
