We are looking for a motivated Junior Design Engineer to join our forward-thinking team in Ashchurch. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects, gain practical experience, and develop your skills under the guidance of experienced engineers.
What You Will Do
Support the design and development of hardware systems from concept through testing
Assist with preparation of design documentation, prototypes, and technical drawings
Collaborate closely with senior engineers and external suppliers
Contribute ideas to improve processes and optimise system performance
Participate in project milestones, including design reviews and technical evaluations
What We Are Looking For
A degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or Systems Engineering
Some experience or strong academic knowledge of electrical/electronic systems
Interest in creating engineering solutions for challenging environments
Enthusiasm to learn EMC principles, mechanical engineering fundamentals, and system design best practices
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive approach to learning
About You
Recent graduates or candidates with 0–3 years of experience in engineering or design roles
Individuals with internship, placement, or project experience from university
Candidates looking to grow under supervision and gradually take on more responsibility
Skills & Tools
Familiarity with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD
Understanding of basic design principles and documentation
Willingness to learn industry-specific standards, particularly for rugged or defence products
Career Path As a Junior Design Engineer, you will start by assisting on design tasks, modelling, and documentation, gradually taking ownership of larger components and projects. With experience and proven capability, there is a clear path to Design Engineer and eventually Senior Design Engineer roles.
