Details Salary (commensurate with experience) : Structured scope for progression with salaries increasing over time up to £49,200 and future progression opportunities within the company.
Contract type : Full time, Permanent
Location : London or Manchester (minimum two days per week in the office following probation, three days during probation)
Travel : Regular UK and international travel
Reporting to : Richard Naylor, Director, Research or a Senior Consultant.
Annual leave : 25 days holiday (including 5 days during the Christmas closure period) plus bank holidays
Pension : 5% matched.

The role of a Data Analyst at BOP The Data Analyst drives the data aspects of our consultancy services, with a focus on delivering actionable insights and intelligence for our clients. This role also involves a secondary focus on supporting our own business insights work, aiding in business planning and growth strategies and the management of our data services.
The balance of the role is envisaged to be:
25% Internal insight and data service
Illustrative day in the life of the Data Analyst at BOP
Clean and structure a dataset, and work with our consultancy team to prepare sharp and sophisticated analysis to inform a client report.
Develop a new approach to sourcing and analysing data from a major cultural programme, using AI tools like NotebookLM, and integrating these datasets into our own company tools and methods.
Developing our internal benchmarking database to ensure consistency across business models, and draw out new geographical analysis.
Key responsibilities
Deliver bespoke data analysis and insights that support client projects, ensuring deliverables align with client objectives and drive significant business outcomes.
Contribute to the company's internal business insights efforts, providing data‑driven support for business planning and strategic growth initiatives.
Manage our data initiative, ensuring its alignment with our broader business objectives and its role in enhancing our data capabilities.
Enable knowledge management and transfer by developing and delivering strategies to enhance the company's capabilities in data management and analysis, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and improving overall data proficiency across the organisation.
Synthesise complex datasets into clear, actionable business insights, crafting compelling narratives that inform and influence client strategies as well as our internal decision‑making processes.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their business challenges and objectives to provide tailored data‑driven consultancy services.
Actively participate in the bidding process for new projects, leveraging data insights to craft compelling proposals that highlight our unique value proposition. Collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure our bids are data‑driven, persuasive, and aligned with potential clients' objectives.
Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data analytics and business intelligence. Apply innovative approaches and technologies to enhance our consultancy offerings and deliver competitive advantage.
Effectively communicate complex data insights and strategies to stakeholders at all levels, including Directors, colleagues, Associates, and clients. Ensure clarity, engagement, and buy‑in across all communications.
Wider operational activities (e.g., knowledge management, cross‑company projects etc.).
The role may require some travel, as projects require.
This role is primarily Monday to Friday during normal UK office hours. But candidates for this role should note that due to the needs of our clients, including those based in different time zones and regions where the working week differs, a flexible approach to working hours is required. This may occasionally involve working outside standard office hours. We operate a flexi‑working policy, which allows flexibility in how and when hours are worked.
What we are looking for Key requirements
Proven experience in data‑driven roles with a focus on business analysis, consultancy, or intelligence. Demonstrable success in leveraging data to drive business insights and outcomes.
Proficiency in statistical packages, including but not limited to Excel. Familiarity with AI models and machine learning applications is desirable.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform complex data analysis and translate findings into strategic insights.
Exceptional project management abilities, with experience leading diverse teams and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders at all levels.
Flexible and adaptable approach to work, with a self‑motivated and proactive attitude.
A keen interest in cultural, creative economy sectors and their role in economic diversification, and urban and sustainable development would be beneficial.
